“I am grateful for the love and support I receive from my HBCU. I am empowered to achieve my goals and make a difference in the world.”

As a proud graduate of Clark Atlanta University and CEO and founder of Sovereign Realty & Management, I am grateful for the invaluable insights gained during my time at a historically black college. In a recent interview with xoNecole.com, I discussed the essential skills acquired, the nurturing environment experienced, and the unwavering confidence instilled throughout my journey.

My introduction to real estate began with the business program at Clark Atlanta University. The finance skills developed there remain instrumental in my daily work as I analyze real estate markets and effectively manage my business.

Growing up in a predominantly white area in upstate New York, immersing myself in a “sea of Black excellence” at Clark Atlanta was extraordinary. I firmly believe that historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) possess a unique ability to instill graduates with confidence and strength when navigating diverse spaces.

I cannot emphasize enough the nurturing aspect of HBCUs. The environment they create offers students unparalleled love and support. By transforming students into the majority amidst a sea of excellence, our abilities to pitch ideas, make decisions, interview professionally, and network effectively are elevated to new heights.

In conclusion, my journey through Clark Atlanta University provided me with the necessary tools for my current success. The experience fostered both professional and personal growth. Reflecting on my time at an HBCU, it is evident that these institutions hold immense potential for setting graduates up for success in any field they choose to pursue.
