I had the honor of joining the North Fulton Area Section of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. (NCNW) for their luncheon, where I was recognized as a finalist for the 2026 Women of Purpose Award in Economic Empowerment.
It was a beautiful afternoon spent in a room full of the most impactful, inspiring, and purpose-driven Black women from across Georgia. There is a specific kind of strength that comes from being surrounded by leaders who are actively moving the needle in our communities.
The NCNW anchors its impact in four specific priorities, known as the Core Four:
- Economic Empowerment
- Education
- Health Equity
- Social Justice
While every one of these pillars is essential, my work is deeply rooted in Economic Empowerment. I have always believed that economic stability is the baseline for everything else we want to achieve, and that starts with homeownership. It is the foundation for our families, our businesses, and our neighborhoods. Being acknowledged for work that I am so personally passionate about is incredibly fulfilling and motivating.
Voices of Leadership
The energy in the room was grounded by the powerful messages shared by Judge Penny Reynolds, PhD, Attorney Janice Mathis, Esq, and Media Personality Twanda Black. Their words were inspiring and activating us to lead with intention, reminding us all that true purpose requires both grace and grit.
I want to extend a sincere congratulations to all the incredible nominees and award recipients. The transformative work you are doing matters, and it was a joy to celebrate your achievements alongside you.
Recognition and awards are wonderful milestones, but they signal a clarion call to keep going. This recognition serves as a reminder to stay focused on the “why” behind every closing, every community project and every boardroom strategy.
Impact doesn’t require a title; it only requires a commitment to one of the “Core Four.” Whether you are passionate about Education, Health Equity, Social Justice, or Economic Empowerment, the first step is showing up.
To me, that means advocating for homeownership as a vital tool for building generational wealth. For you, the path may look different, but it is equally essential to our collective progress.
Here is to the work that remains. Let’s keep building, uplifting, and empowering each other every single day. Live Sovereign.
With gratitude,
Karen Hatcher, CPM®
