How does a successful, strong, and powerful woman navigate work, employee relationships, love, and life in a world that still feels uncomfortable with strong women?

I was selected to participate in an interview series, called “Power Women” for Authority Magazine to share my advice about 5 key things needed to thrive and succeed  navigating work, love and life as a powerful woman. Here are my 5 tips!

1. Do What You Love. That provides you with the passion for reaching those powerful heights. Getting to the highest level of any industry in your pursuit of success will be challenging. And if you don’t love it and you’re not passionate about it, it will be tough to persevere. You will get things thrown at you, and you have to keep the passion for pushing through. You’ve got to have that innate love for it.

2. Be Educated and Get your credentials. Be who you say you want to be and study the craft. You have to be educated. You can’t just love it and then get out there and try to do it. You have to get the credentials. Be knowledgeable. Raise your stats. Be who you say you are. Be who you say you want to be. Sometimes, people tell me, “Hey, I want to flip houses and be an investor.” Then I’ll ask, what books have you read? What websites do you visit? Who are you following? And they can’t answer. To believe in someone, I have to see that they want it and have the education to back it up. We are in the information age. Information is at your fingertips. You have to be able to have the knowledge and the skillsets to back up the passion that you say you have. Actions speak louder than everything.

3. Have a Tribe. From that, I mean support. Whatever that Tribe is for you, whether it’s your girlfriends, spouse, industry group, or family. Whatever your support system is, you have to have a tribe because that will feed your spirit and you will also feed them. And that energy is essential to keeping you going.

4. Have capital. Either from your own success, financial backers, or revenue that you’re currently generating. Whether you’re in the for-profit or nonprofit space, you should be generating some results. Some may say this is a little materialistic, but you should be producing some results to be successful. To be at the top of your game, you have to be making a profit.

5. Have a spiritual connection. There is a guiding force that is greater than me. I believe you need to have some spiritual connection. Whatever that is for you, that is that Guiding Light. We all have that spiritual force inside us that has ordained our steps. Sometimes you don’t know your purpose, which is where faith steps in. I believe a higher power orders my steps and lays the path before me.

I pray a lot. I pray for guidance, knowledge, consistency, and discipline. I pray for my family. I am full of gratitude. I’m thankful for all of the blessings that I have received. I pray for continued abundance and that may my cup continue to runneth over so I can fill other cups too, and their cups can runneth over. I pray that everything is in alignment.
